Our name (Muslim Consultative Network) indicates that we are inspired by the Islamic principle of shura, or mutual consultation, to ensure that all voices are represented at the table when decisions are made. As we strive to reflect and address the diverse needs of the New York City Muslim community, we welcome input from our partners and constituents.

In the last few years, MCN has partnered with a range of organizations within the Muslim community to conduct community building events and educational workshops. Through these partnerships, we have initiated and supported intra-faith dialogue, Know Your Rights workshops, town-hall style forums on how to navigate city resources and programs that raise awareness of race, gender, and class divides within the NYC Muslim community.

MCN does not work exclusively within the Muslim community.  Much of our programming connects communities of faith and builds bridges of understanding. MCN partners with schools, universities, places of worship and community and faith-based organizations, to work for civil rights and social justice and to strengthen interfaith cooperation.
