(NEW YORK, NY 8/17/16) – On Thursday, August 18th at 9:00 am, New York City Muslim leaders, community organizations, multi-religious faith leaders and elected officials will gather on the steps of City Hall to address the murders of Imam Maulama Akonjee and Thara Uddin on August 13th. The tragic deaths of these respected religious leaders are a byproduct of growing anti-Muslim and anti-immigrant sentiment fueled largely by the bigoted rhetoric and fear-mongering emanating from some current presidential election campaigns. The leaders will call for an end to violence and intolerance in all its forms against and encourage inclusive, respectful communities free from fear and division.
