First Annual Muslim American Legislative Breakfast at NYS Capitol

MCN proudly participated in the First Annual Muslim American Legislative Breakfast at the New York State Capitol during Caucus Weekend, a historic event focused on engaging in critical conversations about issues that directly impact Muslim American communities. This breakfast brought together influential community leaders and elected officials to discuss policies and initiatives aimed at supporting the needs and rights of Muslim Americans.

The event featured esteemed speakers including Emgage’s Heba Khalil, Dr. Debbie Almontaser, United Way’s Abdullah Younus, Afrikana’s Adama Bah, and MCN’s very own Executive Director, Husein Yatabarry. Alongside them were key officials such as NYS Senator Robert Jackson, Assemblyman Charles Fall, NYS AG Letitia James, Assemblyman Zellnor Myrie, NYC Councilwoman Mercedes Narcisse, and NYC Councilman Yusef Salaam.

This significant gathering served as a platform to advocate for the issues and concerns of the Muslim American community, foster cross-cultural dialogue, and strengthen the collaboration between the Muslim community and lawmakers. It was an important moment in our ongoing efforts to ensure that the voices of Muslim Americans are heard and represented in legislative spaces.
