Wali joined MCN in November 2022 as Community Education Coordinator, where he helps coordinate & facilitate our programming and partnerships relating to immigrants rights, voter registration/education, and policy/legislative advocacy.

Wali was born & raised in the Northeast Bronx to a Pakistani immigrant family, where he spent his elementary school years until moving to Pakistan for the remainder of his middle & secondary schooling years (2009-15). After permanently moving back to the United States and starting to plan for college, his initial interest in international politics and foreign relations drasticallly shifted to US elections & policymaking after the 2016 Presidential election, as well as after getting involved with various local nonpartisan issue and advocacy organizations.

Wali graduated with an Associate's Degree from Bronx Community College in 2018, where he was also an active member of civically-oriented campus groups such as NYPIRG (New York Public Interest Research Group), Student Government Association, CUNY University Student Senate, The Communicator, and The Democracy Project (now the BCC Social Justice Network). Afterwards, he immediately started his bachelor's at the City College of New York, choosing to design his own major (Political Behavior and Analysis) through the CUNY Baccalaureate for Unique and Interdisciplinary Studies Program. Around the same time up until commencement, he continued developing a focus in public policy, civic engagement, and advocacy through internships, fellowships, and volunteer work with various nonprofits, advocacy/interest groups, think tanks, and issue-based/electoral campaigns.

Through his work in and out of MCN, Wali hopes to help fill the gaps that remain in effectively engaging historically disengaged civic communities (e.g. youth, immigrants/1st gen Americans, South Asian/MENA, Muslim, disabled) and helping achieve tangible, sustainable policies and community outcomes that benefit not only Muslims, but New Yorkers of every social background.
